:Elisa&Jared:

It was a beautiful day celebrating the union of my cousin Elisa and Jared. You may remember their fun e-session from way back, still one of my faves for sure! I loved seeing the realness of their love and adoration for one another….to watch their emotions of the day unfold into pure joy, so incredible and special! Thank you for allowing me capture these moments you two, I cannot wait to see your lives unfold together! xo

A humongous thank you to my husband and assistant, there is no way my day could be so smooth without him….his images are mingled in with mine and i love how they flow with mine…i think we make a good team! :)

.handwritten letters.

This is a very special post for me. One that inspires me, speaks to me and touches my heart…..100 years later.  My great grandma Wilma Pearl that i had the amazing privilege to know and love, loved to save everything. And it is of great value now when I get to read a letter that my  great, great, great grandmother wrote. My grandma passed old letters and postcards down to my mom and as we went through them I was in awe of what I got to read. A piece of history, my families history….a gorgeous handwritten letter that after all these years speaks to who i am.

In the letter she is writing to my great great grandma Rose in the year 1912, in her gorgeous handwriting. Here are a couple quotes from the letter, great advice…even now!

“Now be real saving and work up as it is much better to begin with little you can afford, then to begin with what you can’t afford.

” But we’ll leave every thing with the Lord, he does all things well, which ever is for the best… ain’t any of us sure of tomorrow.” What an incredible piece of my family heritage to know that she trusted and loved God, it was very evident throughout the letter.

I knew right away I wanted to capture this with my camera…a piece of my history.

Kiley&Brayden

Have been meaning to post this forever now….we had a little session with my niece and nephew, my sis in law wanted to make sure we captured Kiley’s chubby roll phase again before it was gone. AND since that is my absolute fave phase I had some fun with it! who doesn’t love some baby rolls!? We took her diaper off and let her roam free..ha! she loved it! Oh how we love them!

.a day at the farm.

This session speaks to my heart…and really, really makes me long for the farm life even more! Deep down I want to be a country girl…someday it will happen, starting with a chicken coop and hens that we will be getting this spring! It is probably all I will be able to handle! ha! I have a bit of the city girl in me too :)

The “G” family are good friends of ours and when they wanted family photos I immediately knew that doing a session at their home would be sooo perfect, and really show who they are. I adore being able to incorporate a part of each families life and personality into the sessions, it is my true journalistic love.  Their home is a 100 plus year old farm house, they raise Jacob sheep, chickens and horses….have incredibly huge fruit and walnut trees and lots of land…talk about amazing! I think i might be doing more shoots up there to come, it is so inspiring!! Thank you G family for your friendship and a wonderful afternoon! xo

If you are looking for a on site journalistic photo shoot hit me up….i adore it!

{apple crumble bar}

Today is recipe love for you all….I LOVE to bake, which is also a bad thing for my waist!  This is a delicious apple recipe, it would make an excellent alternative for apple pie for thanksgiving. We got our first great harvest this year from one of our apple trees so i made lots of great desserts with them! This recipe is seriously fool proof easy….here it is, with a few pictures along the way! Recipe at bottom. Enjoy!!

Peel, core and cut apples. In with the apples add sugar, flour, and cinnamon.

This is the dry mixture that will be the base of the dish and the crumb topping.  You will mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Once mixed cut in the butter with a pastry cutter (or you can use your hands) just make sure that it is crumbly. Then gently mix in egg. AND am just now seeing that I was supposed to beat the egg BEFORE adding, so you may want to do that. HA! but I did not and it worked out anyway. :)

You will then pat 2/3 of the dry mixture into the 9×13 pan….then lay the apple mixture on top of that. Then sprinkle the rest of the dry mixture on top of the apples (I also sprinkled the top with some more cinnamon, i love cinnamon!). The picture above is when it came right out of the oven to cool. Smelled so delicious!

And here it is in all its deliciousness! After it cools a bit you drizzle the glaze over the top, and devour. I took these to my parents for family night and everyone loved them! I think they were even better the next day, they got a bit more dense.

Hope you enjoy them, we sure did!! Here is the recipe….
